We at the ELTForum.sk are delighted to invite you to the 6th annual ELT Forum to be held on 10–11 June 2016 in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The interdisciplinary ELT Forum is the third largest conference of the kind in Europe. The leitmotif for the 2016 edition is Learning through Assessment. We shall focus on the array of issues related to assessment that enable us guide our learners towards their utmost linguistic achievement and cross-cultural affluence. The two particular approaches we wish to explore together are:
- Assessment of learner skills and aptitudes;
- Assessment of personality traits that affect the potential of language learners to progress and succeed.
We welcome speaker proposals related to the conference theme Learning through Assessment, as well as innovative, practical methodology in any of the following areas:
- Testing and Assessment
- One (or more) of the four skills: reading, writing, speaking, listening
- Teaching grammar, vocabulary and/or pronunciation
- Young Learners
- Business English
- Cultural Studies & Literature
- Exam Skills
- Materials Writing
- Continuing Professional Development (incl. PLN)
Whether a newcomer or a frequent flyer at the ELT Forum, we shall be delighted to have you with us. You have no doubt been toying with a range of ideas throughout your career. The ELT Forum is the place to pass them by your colleagues. Apart from receiving invaluable feedback, you can disseminate them straight away. All it takes is fill the paper proposal form.
How Long? Types of Proposals
Workshop (60 minutes)
A practical presentation which shows, rather than tells, an ELT technique that can be used later in the classroom or for personal professional growth. The speaker involves participants through hands-on activities.
Talk/Presentation (30 minutes)
An instructive talk given by (a) subject specialist(s). May include presentation of published (or unpublished) materials. Suitable for sponsored speakers.
Deadline for proposals is Tuesday, 13 March 2016.
All proposals – non-sponsored and sponsored – will be read ‘blind’ (without the authors’ names) by each member of the ELTForum.sk programme committee and assessed on their professionalism, expertise, practicality, and usefulness to conference participants. How well they relate to the conference theme will also be considered.
All applicants will receive notification as to whether or not their proposal has been accepted by Tuesday midnight, 30 March 2016.
